This years family vacation was to Disney World. As a joke I handed Jay a Telemarketers phone call about a Hilton Vacation Club trip. He bit the worm... We stayed a few nights in Shades of Green and a few nights at the Tuscany HVC resort. Either way we had a great time. The military was running such great rates we couldn't pass up the trip even though some might say the kids were too young and probably won't remember.

Our Summer

This has been a great summer. Our friends, Eben and Johanna and Edison invited us on their sailboat. We had never sailed as a family, of course Jay had. We went out near the Coast Guard Academy sailed around, had a great time. The kids don't really get to go to the beach in Alexandria so, anytime we are in Niantic we head down to the beach and let Xavier get his fill in. Jazelle seemed to like playing with Edison in the sand.
In addition to our first family sail Eben invited Dad and Betty out for another trip. We had big hopes to sail to Block Island with the kids. The weather wasn't cooperating so we opted out for a day trip just out and back. We got to spend quality time with Eben, Johanna, Edison, Dad and Betty.

For Labor Day we flew to Portland. I requested we do things with the kids as if we were on vacation rather than just a visit. Zelly and Xavier loved the Maine Wildlife Zoo. There are only native animals that have been injured or orphaned. Zelly loved the Moose. He was huge and she just loved watching him chew. She was very proud to have her picture taken by him. Jay gave Xavier a quarter and he had a great time eating as many Tootsie Rolls as a quarter could. Zelly was imitating the sound the bears were making, more like a groan than a growl. I asked if we could see Herbie the Dutch Elm in Falmouth. We have visited Herbie several times. The importance of this trip was to get a picture of it before being cut down. Dad would settle for any less than all of us getting in the picture so he stopped someone driving by. She was very happy to take our picture she said she had a grandfather that was just as crazy as dad.
One of our other day trip while in Maine was to Camden, a coastal town 2.5 hours north and east of Dad and Betty. We drove for awhile to see Camden Windjammers Festival. There were boat being made, chowder competitions, Auxillary Coast Guard. Xavier and Jay toured the Coast Guard boat, but next year Xavier wants to compete in the lobster pot run. They tied lobster pots together and the kids would run across the top as many times as possible before jumping in or falling into the water.

Saturday Walk to Best Buns

It isn't offen but when we are home on a Saturday we like to walk down to Shirlington and hit Best Buns for breakfast. Xavier insists on riding his bike. Downhill is usually pretty easy but the way back is very difficult. While we are in Shirlington we eat in this little area where the kids can ride Xavier's bike on a flat surface with no threat of cars. Zelly can't exactly reach the pedals but Xavier will push her.

Zelly's First Day of PreTods

Okay, so I posted all three. She is so cute. This is our traditional photo in front of the tree on the first day of a new classroom. Zelly started pretods doesn't she look beautiful in her purple dress. Since she started she is doing really well. Loves water play and her teachers.

Weekend at the Lake

A few weeks ago we spent some time on Lake Gaston. Pappap was glad to meet us in town for dinner. He had lost power and golf was canceled so what else would he want to do.
The kids had fun on the wheeler, boat and playground. Jay tried some pier fishing. Not much was biting just some "sunnies". Maybe next time. Xavier loves going to the lake so he can act like a little redneck.

Jazelle is walking

Believe it or not. Jazelle started walking last week, she was a little timid but when isn't she. We had lots of time to practice and just in time, she will be moving up to pretoddlers on Monday. I can't believe our little baby is growing up. Oh not to mention she said her first word along with sign. There was a bird outside the window and she pointed to it, signed it correctly and said birdie. Don't let those sweet blue green eyes fool you. She will hit you, screach until you fall down and melt your heart all at once. Yeah Jazelle!

Holding Hands with Omah and Opah

Funny to see Opah and Omah both hold a hand with each kid. Xavier was the same age then as Jazelle is in this picture. Too bad I didn't get a straight on shot of Jazelle.
